Abstract Imagery
Photography is generally not an abstract medium. You point your camera at a subject, and it records what’s there in front of the lens. But I like to use my camera to make more enigmatic images, whether the subject is ripples and reflections in a pond, a splash of color in the landscape, or an image created in-camera by using camera movements during exposure. I often liken it to the Impressionist painters, who used color and brush strokes to create what an image ‘felt’ like instead of what it actually looked like. And that’s what I do with my camera; I use it more like a painter uses a brush, creating fluid, brush-like movements with my camera to build up a scene.
